Why isn't everyone producing eggs?

£14,000 in bank every Friday guaranteed that's what I heard today about egg producer but feed and other costs to come out of that.. he's now putting up another 2 as well as building new house

Won't be much left if he's selling them to a wholesaler, could even be in the red. Need a fair proportion of direct sales and do the job well to make good money. Not easy selling a few thousand dozen a week retail or into shops etc from scratch.

Mortgage, 7 day a week labour, feed, pullets, vet bills, electricity, water, compliance etc etc.

What good is £14000 into the bank account each week if there’s £14001 going out?

Depends what the £14001 drops to once shed paid for; how many years it takes; and how much life is in what's left after.

Thats true, 15 years of hard work and then your half knackered shed will pay you a decent wage!

Or, you were already sitting on a chunk of money and were just desperate to buy work for yourself.

The egg job has been good, but at the moment the retailers and packers are taking the p155 and screwing the producer against a backdrop of sky high feed prices. Add in the rocketing cost of raw materials to build new sheds and it doesn’t make sense currently.
