You can bet your bottom dollar, that if the three of you were all on benefits and did not work there would be about a dozen children! I remember talking to a teacher from Birmingham, and she knew of children, who first found out about and met their half siblings when they were chatting to other children about who their father was in secondary school!

Thats the end result of thatchers mass unemployment policy to destroy the unions.

fair comment, but I can see nothing wrong with being a landlord, however, I believe that capitalism does need controls to stop it from going too far, which is why we have laws and rules. I believe there are problems, the differential between the ultra rich and poorest is too great, and our society seems to be moving towards a hereditary ruling class away from meritocracy which is wrong in my opinion.

I disagree that it is the result of Thatcherism, rather, our welfare state rewards feckless behaviour, where as with a few tweaks it could be altered to reward the behaviours that benefit society.
Thatcher threw millions on the dole, all financed by scottish oil.
All the old industrial areas now have the non working underclass as a result.
