Have just picked up an old one, how does the depth adjuster work? Wind the handle either way but still doesn’t seem to alter anything

No but looking at the photos ....

assuming the threads are sound in that block then next to check is the Ram sound/holding its charge of oil /whatever as a damper or does it flop about ? ie seals on it leaking no oil etc?

If I remember right you wind it one way and it pushes the ram down so the depth increases!
Can never remember which way but does no harm in playing around with it.

Yes the threads are fine in the block and no leaks on the ram

If you alter it you really need to have it in the ground and to be moving to see any depth difference otherwise it will just sit on the ground looking no different depth wise!
