They need a very specific oil, it a Castrol 5/20 I 🤔
My wife & I both have ford 1.0 eco boost cars, a 120bhp fiesta & a 155 mild hybrid Puma.
Both have been great so far but we don't do huge mileage.
I did though buy the correct Castrol oil for the fiestas recent service.
That timing belt is supposed to last 10 years or 150000 miles, whichever comes first
Bit of a job to change though I believe, engine out to do it.
So yes, use the correct oil & tbh I agree, change every 10k/2 years....not 18k & I suspect you'd be extremely unlikely to have problems.
Mind you, I wouldn't buy second hand with an unknown service history...
Oil change is 18k or 2 years - I shall be doing the wife's 125ps Focus every 12 months , even though it only does 7-8000 miles. It cost the best part of £20k , so what's an extra £50 in oil and a filter.

Poor is it not? We have had (in the family) Peugeot 2.0 hdi with 200k and Audi A4 1.9 225k (still being used with 250k. Not as clean burning admittedly but I would like to know the CO2 footprint compared to the Focus in question.

I would reduce that to 6 -8 months personally, irrelevant of mileage

Buy it in 20l tubs non big brand meeting the specs.

All ours comes from Smith and allen.

20Litres does us 2 cars 2 Services... £60 the last one I think was.

Missus does low miles with a 1.6 TDCi... that's done every 12 month Mines done when the dashboard pings.. every 8 months or so at 10k.

Both on same oil. Filters come from supplier in Germany added to an order. Always Mahle.

Air every other Fuel every 3rd service. Overkill but it's cheap.
