We've got internet in office via a cable and a netgear gs108 switch set up as wifi extenders won't work. All works fine last 3yrs. But with phones laptops etc been wifi we need wifi now. Can I just plug a wifi router in to a spare port.???

You can do it with either an access point or a router, but if you use a router there will be settings that you'll need to change to stop it conflicting with the main router that connects to the Internet. Depending on what unit you get, you can also dispense with the GS108 as most units include a built-in hub/switch.

If you are using that router as Wi-fi, you connect your main cable to one of the yellow ports and then Log into that router and disable dhcp so it is no longer a router but a switch with Wi-fi.

If you need extra lan ports, you could connect that router to your netgear switch and disable dhcp as usual.

Did you manage to get it to work with the BT one? I couldn’t and in the end used an old EE one which seems to work ok with most devices although my phone will only connect to it if it’s connected to the main hub first!! Still trying to work this gremlin out. Ipad etc are ok as they don’t usually leafe the house therefore ar always connected to one or the other.
