will £500 be enough to fully overhaul dexta engine and new clutch

the engine is out and that is how far its gone.... I knew the front axle pin was worn but when I took it apart it is in need of serious attention .. it will need building up and machining so that is priority at moment... the rear axle seals need doing as well .and a new hour clock …..there is a local road run in middle of September so it should be done by then.... I should mention I have another tractor in shed that will be unique when finished...… all constructive comments are welcome

no it is a 9n fitted with howard reduction box and Sherman high/low and is in need of new fuel tank so it will have home made petrol tank making it unique unless someone knows different

Thank the lord, I cannot get my head round the number of ridiculous set ups placing improbably large engines that the transmission would never handle.
Yours will be an interesting machine, did it come from a drainer or some such?

Fergy halfshafts take 500hp to bust them
Gearboxes are hardy to
Clutches are well on top of their job too

It's surprising how they built still to last

Unlike nowadays everything is engineered to nearly be on its limit

This is quite wrong and misunderstands physics.
1 hp can burst the halfshaft if the gearing is low enough
It is the torque that such an engine chucks out which would kill them

Yes
But in general I'm meaning

I'm not splitting hairs
Everyone I know understands the meaning of horsepower in relationship to a size

If you use torque as I'm meaning to most it means nothing

So 2467 nm most are like ermmmm....

But if you say a Scania V8 720hp they respond like oh yeah ....
