Certainly. There are some farmers that have literally "bet the farm" on a new enterprise 'certainty'.
I saw one of them last week looking *very* pale...

Input prices are going to stress test those who are borrowed to the max unless they’ve already been bought right even if output prices climb to cover them.

Not in 2022 but 2023 probably

The more pertinent question though would be "Who will be buying?"

Doubt it will be farmers. Our arses will still be red from the spanking we are currently getting

With the decline in support payments and escalating input costs the farmers in the driving seat are the farmers that farm ( borrowings permitting) not the landowners who paper trail farm and have no skills or machinery to do so , it could be that their land assets could go from cash cow to a liability other than it cash sale value, probably not so much for sale this yr but certainly there will undoubtedly be more within next 5yrs

Farms don’t come on the market here, farms in many bits come on the market, very rarely though.

Personally I have little appetite to buy unless it bordered my land and even then I'd think thrice ... and walk away

Like it or not I think land prices will continue you rise year on year.Land always gets less each year due to roadbuilding,house building and commercial/ industrial development. In times of uncertainty investors invest in land for security and combine this with the possibility of tight food supplies throughout the World then it's only logical for prices to firm.
There is an awful lot of non farming money washing around and this will compete with forward thinking ,keen to grow their business, farmers.

The trouble is land will be seen as a relatively safe investment in turbulent time where you could wake up tomorrow and your Vanguard Global Equities Tracker Fund could be worth 50% of today. But they always bounce back as long as the money printer keeps going!

Well I see in the Farmers Weekly today there are two 4,000 acre estates for sale jointly by Savills and Bidwells. One block in Yorkshire and the other in Cambridgeshire, any lottery winners on here
