I was on a Cold War walking tour in Berlin 4 years ago.
The tour guide showed us the old hq of the Stazi. The tour guide told us that some years prior he had an American on the tour. The yank told him that he shared a flat in NY with an East German. The yank came home one night to find his flat mate watching the tv in tears. When he asked what was wrong, the German pointed at the man on the screen and said that he tortured him when he lived in East Berlin. The man on the screen was Putin.

Not a fan of football myself, but I would like to see all players of all teams come out wearing armbands in the Ukrainian colours... against the "non political" rules, but stuff them - if players are allowed to take the knee for BLM, they should be allowed to show solidarity for the Ukrainians!

I’m sure I read somewhere that the FA have allowed such political statements to be made, after Russia invaded.

It's amazing how folk latch on to the comedic elements of his past career, but forget to mention that before he turned to acting he got a degree in law, or that he built his own successful production company or founded a successful political party almost from scratch. As an elected representative of his country having won both the presidency and the parliamentary elections with a majority not seen in recent history I suspect that he might get a bit more respect than you think.
Social media, for years we have been told by remainers that Russian interference won brexit, Johnson getting to be prime minister Russian interference, Trump president all down to the Russians, & yet we are supposed to believe that the Ukranians faced with Putin over the border just waiting to march in had nothing to do with a bit part actor being preferred to a serious polititcian.
Just maybe the Russians got just what they wanted but like any actor their man has gone a bit off script & it is not what they expected, but that doesn't mean they won't achieve what they dreamed of in the end at a far higher price for all involved.
Social media allows people to look through the wrong end of a telescope & not see the bigger picture!

It's the same with all these reports about him being ill & on steroids.

The battle statistics coming from Western media and US intelligence could be exagerrated or reduced too. Do you think our leaders and media would really want us to know the battle is going badly for the Ukranians and Russia has the upper hand? We're yet to see a response to sanctions from Russia. How long can Europe last without any Russian gas supply? Long way to go yet before there'll be any resolution to this. Best option we have is for NATO to throw everything at Russia. Better fighting his now than later I recon. Especially before any other dictators look to take military opportunities.

i think modern air craft and heli gun ships
would be a different scrap
compared to fighting on skis in snow
The route westwards across Finland is not great for modern kit, lots of places for hit & run ambushes. A naval assault on Helsinki might lead to it falling, but subduing the rest of the country will take a lot of boots and kit on the ground.
