Russian radar is a bit more sophisticated than (and don't rely on) using open source flight tracking websites which require an aircraft's transponder and ground based receivers.

I suspect, that these transponders are left on deliberately, as a show reassurance/confirmation (and political gesturing) to those inside Ukraine that they are not entirely alone; and the west is doing what it can, without risking escalating to a wider and more drastic conflict.

They would need their transponders on to traverse over Europe safely- the skies are loaded with civil aviation of all kinds at the moment.

Irrespective of the outcome in Ukraine, it has taken a former comedic actor and the people he represents, to show the West how to lead, how to stand up for democracy against Tyranny and not just spout lip service for western democracy. Shows up our esteemed leaders for what they are. Boris may not be your cup of tea but he appears to be steps ahead of the EU in trying to do right by the Ukraine and our Eastern European cousins and not pander to Putin's oligarchs.

Ukraine etc have "enjoyed" rule from Moscow and tasted home rule in a greater community, would you want to live under "occupation"? Something the majority of us cannot even conceive. Putin by his actions has highlighted how a former actor Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proven himself a proper leader and politician that others should aspire too and elevated him to hero. This might be the Ukrainians Thermopylae but they are all heroes.

As someone else said its best to put out a smoldering fire than a blaze. Putin needs to be stopped now not appeased, does no one read history?

The interior of the ones they examined on film looked about 1960's vintage at best.
The interiors tend to be pretty basic and old fashioned, except for the specialist variants. The thinking is that the simpler stuff is, the easier it is to maintain... and less likely to end up on RuskieBay. A lot of the crew safety kit aren't obvious such as spall liners to protect the crew from shrapnel caused by blows to the armour.

So a bit like going on a mission in a series 2 Land Rover!:nailbiting:

I fear that this Russian invasion could go out of control very quickly, if the yanks get frustrated and press the “N bomb” button aimed at the Kremlin. I think global warming will be the least of mankind’s concerns!!!!
I just hope that what I have written above, turns out to be a load of rubbish, for which I will be eternally grateful.
Don’t think Biden will do anything

I certainly hope the US spy planes that have been taking off daily from near to me Fairfield can’t be seen.

No idea which those are, someone on Twitter will likely know but I'm just following people that know stuff!
To be fair, US intelligence has been spot on regarding Russian plans, they must have some pretty heavy weight sources.
Read yesterday it was harder recruit in USSR because of belief in Communism, but Putinism is just pro greed for a tiny minority.
