Will the UK chip in for Notre Dame

Instead of paying for buildings of religion that state should be paying for the buildings of people.
The response toward the Notre dame looks sickening to my mind when compared to that of Grenfell.

The church of england are the 3rd biggest landower in this country,i presume similar in france

How many times do we have to write it - the building is not owned by the church - it was taken from them during a previous French Revolution. The cathedral, and most others, are owned by the French Government - by the people - and they have been taking all the revenue from visitors etc. Why should the church pay the repair costs for something that was stolen from them?

Because the people had to fund Religion for 100s of years and are still afforded special privilages ?

If ordinary people can give donations what is stopping one of the Richest organisations in the world from donating ?

Do they not like their own religion and iconic symbols ?

Doughtfull, the building is owned by the state so not insured in itself.
The contents are owned by the church and are " priceless" so again probably not
The contractors, if found to have caused the fire, will be liable for rebuilding.
Glad I'm not with AXA

You have to remember, anything to do with insurance anywhere in the world always ends up in London.

The Royal family can't get insurance as they're unemployed. Bunch of layabouts
Not so. They insure themselves because they are rich enough to not need to. Royal Mail don't pay insurance on their vehicles either, they simply have their own internal system.
