Basically it depends. I don't think this year I'm going to get any on top of winter crops as it looks like growth is going to be too advanced and wheelings would show up. I usually give myself until about Gold Cup week before deciding and unlikely to spread after that - sometimes you get these dry weeks and sometimes not.

This is a marginal cropping field as it was permanent pasture for years. Will be sprayed off in 10 days after sheep and then drilled about mid april with barley.

Chicken muck on top in May

Quite a close time between roundup and drilling but will drill with AS down spout to get it going. Will be warmer by then too.

A month between spaying and drilling be plenty wouldn't it?

I must have missed it somewhere but what drill are you using to drill into grass?

Still spraying off stubbles today. Using a bit of kyleo as an experiment to knock a bit of rbwh back. Interesting to see how it goes i find it dear for what it is and have also done some 24d and glyphosate mix as a comparison as well.

Much of the land looking a bit sad at the moment. Digging holes and all seems well but from the tractor land looks a bit desperate for sunshine.

What is kyleo? Does it do a job on oil radish?

Its a 24d and glyphosate mix. Apparently with some magic stuff in it to make it work together.

Costing me about £4.46 litre but to match equiv roundup at 4l ha I need 5 litres of it so costs about £22/ha for burndown as yanks call it.

Glyphosate @ 4l/ha for burndown would be £8 ha and glyphosate with a half litre of 24D homemade would cost about £9.50 ha. So in effect your paying a lot for the surfactant or whatever. I've researched the idea of adding 24d and glyphosate homemade and its pretty common in the States without issues unless maybe your in hard water area.

All depends on what weeds are about - Kyleo would do a good job on oil radish but then again presumably so would 24D in crop even?

Results with kyleo have been much better here than mixtures of glyphosate and 24d. Used it against herbs which glyphosate solo wouldnt kill with 400-600g/ha like knotweed or volunteer OSR before maize planting and also in harder cases on stubble with creeping thistles or field bindweed.

I don't know if its true but RBWH always seems to grow in places eg yards etc where the soil is quite sad. Is it supposed to be an indicator of anything?
