Wind turbine and cold storage

I have three new 700t cold stores running October-May but currently without any renewables. Without a feed in tariff, I don't think solar would be suitable for us as the majoirty of our usage is outside of the summer period. Would a wind turbine be better?

If so, does anyone have a rough costs for different size turbines? Who should I be approaching?

Hi Nev, What sort of consumption are you looking at? its a bit how longs a piece of string, so for fun lets say you want something that is going to produce 200MWh a year then you should think about that costing around £400k to get it in the ground and running. Im happy to go through some scenarios if you want to drop me a PM.

Dependent on your consumption have you thought about biofuel gensets?

With a wind turbine it all depends on your wind resource. I have looked at many cold stores, and unfortunately they rarely get built on the top of a hill!

We’re in the south Lincs fens with a mile open in most directions. Neighbours successfully invested heavily in wind in the days of FIT and are very pleased but I wasn’t in the business then. I fear we may have missed the boar
