Winner or loser after reform?

Final figures wont be clarified until the spring after the consultation is finished. modulation is 9.5%. Reading the calculator I think the 9.5% has already been deducted before it was divided by the number of eligible hectares.

That's how I read it.
Second paragraph of the calculator document says it is based on assumptions of how much will be transferred from pillar 1 to pillar 2 so would take that to mean the figures have 9.5% already deducted.

Will be a loser- like a lot in the North east however a lot depends on treatment of seasonal lets/active farmer and convergence. There are going to be lot of unhappy farmers up here and unfortunately instead of getting the best deal for everyone looks like the consultation will set farmer against farmer. I do like the fact that provision has been made for new entrants/ small farmers however we are now going to see a lot of farmers sons and daughters setting up separate businesses and the splitting up of businesses. So unfortunately we're going from a system which doesn't allow support for new entrants to one which will be open to abuse by non-genuine cases- hopefully not at the expense of the genuine new starts.

Why the feck should new entrants and start ups get an advantage over those who were new entrants twenty years ago?
I mean. Why should I have my little business undermined by a new entrant who will only struggle to get to where I am now in 20 years time?
All I got was quota for nine suck cows and have since then gone through what must surely be the most difficult 20 years of cattle farming ever.

yep caveman all u got was quota for 9 suck cows, what quota have u got since or could u have done it all with out quota. also as me da says it wasnt hard to make money 20years ago, everyday u got up what u were selling was worth more, fert about 100 ton, meal 80 ton. granted there was bse and f and m etc but that could happen anytime, what would ur plan be to get started now then? just curious not having ago even if it sounds like it, but i feel the new entrants need some sort of an edge to push oout the time wasters that r not up to scratch.
