Winter barley how early

How early would you dare drill winter barley ? Got some vert tricky ground to do, exposed location that suffers badly through cold / wet spells

After oats which is a tricky zero-til situation IMO especially if it comes wet before good establishment

Perfect conditions right now (rare on that land), no grass weed pressure, is next week utter madness ???

If your direct drilling, the crop will be slower developing anyway as you wont have the N so available in the soil without cultivations so that will subtract a few days away from the normal.

1 cwt/ac = 125 kg/ha. My Volume hybrid seed was delivered yesterday with a TGW of 51.

Then there's the slugs, sterile brome & compaction to consider too. :p [/runs for cover!]

Volume is known for low specific weight so maybe other varieties will have higher TGWs.

I sow 300 in the last week of Sept so IMO you aren't far out.
