Seed finally got delivered yesterday.
Looking like plough and combined establishment, only problem is we might not get them deep enough.
Any other issues with this technique ?

For the past 10 years all of mine have been direct in with the Horsch apart from last year. Last year they ended up plough/combi and went in well and grew away fine so can't see many issues.

A lot of people think it's important to put them in deep. If they are planted too shallow then corvids can pull them out and some yield lost. Is there any other disadvantage of planting shallow? However if they are sown in such a way that the final seedbed is so rough and poor the combine won't go low enough to get the lower pods. Last harvest was a good example and so much yield was lost. Happy drilling ours as deep as the drill will put them in and leaving a better & more level seedbed.

thanks. did it yesterday. plough and combi, job done. figured broadcasting ploughing and quick levil off with power harrow would take longer. besides which we don't have a spreader as we're all liquid.
depth wasn't a problem in the end and we have a good level finish for further passes and residual herbicides to engage with, and tramlines.
