WINTER LINSEED IS biggest waste of money ever. my whole crop has failed. premium crops make out you will earn a fortune the fact of the matter is they are the only ones that make any money. the despite making several calls and asking for advice no one was ever available i never got a callback rip off seed costs 120 a hectare with p!ss poor seed rate and misleading figures. THEY STILL WANT PAYMENT DESPITE THE CROP FAILING WHEN THEY SAID IT WOULDNT i will never touch linseed again or Premium Craps again i lost £5000 on this crop DO NOT GROW

If pigeons or csfb destroy osr do you expect not to pay for seed? I reckon I have had 10% winter kill here and quite a bit of damage to the survivors. I wouldn’t be that bothered but the weeds are thriving and I’m scared to spray it

the frost killed it. it was patchy and never really got going. I tried it once but never again. I spoke to them about it and was told i still have to pay. it is a win win for them zero risk and maximum reward, i will never ever deal with them again

Where in the country
drilling date and previous crop

I have winter linseed after spring barley notill drilled mid September which had a good layer of snow during the coldest week Avadex but too wet for crawler
not drilled as early as I would have liked
will be aiming to get it bigger into winter and so can use crawler a little earlier than recommended before it gets too wet

Tbf I’ve had excellent service from premium crops Hannah came out in December to have a look at ours and gave us a bit of advice most of which I forgot so text her on Saturday and got a reply back that day with lengthy info and lots of links to various data sheets . Excellent to deal with!
been through with 50kg of N +S today

I get that you are angry and i would be too but as i said before farmers are risk takers not the seed sellers. If CSFB eat your OSR you still have to pay the seed merchant (or in theory pay the royalties if FSS). I wouldn't be at all surprised if Premium Crops make more than me out of my crops but thats standard for all my crops sadly as a commodity grower.

Winter linseed is miss sold!!!
It should be able to survive 3 minor snow events over 3 weeks and 4 days of -3 frosts. Ours was looking good until then.
So to claim it is winter hardly is a complete lie !!! And the company's selling the seed probably have a case to answer to the trading standards!!!
It should not be compared to any other crops that may fail .

That’s a fair point. I thought the varieties were bred in Ukraine or somewhere so rather expected them to be tougher than that. You haven’t exactly described a harsh winter have you? I think you should reasonably expect it to survive that easily.

The fact that they are selling it as winter linseed means that it should survive winter weather. As has already been mentioned it has hardly been exceptionally cold. I would think that you have an argument here.

Its the constant wet followed by freeze thaw freeze thaw That kills it
they dont get that in ukraine.
No crop is totally winter hardy

A premium crops salesman rang me out of the blue yesterday . Trying to interest me in growing the crop.
chap didn’t draw breath for about 20 mins. Don’t think it’s a worthwhile option for me.

Growing spring yellow for Robin Appel
Had 40 going in now have another 23ac .seed supplied at cost to replace winter.
I am only Growing it to get rotation back on track as have not any osr for 2 years
Already have beans in rotation. And hate oats.
Do get premium crops ringing selling there many crops .always a short conversation.

Winter linseed is written off due to frost kill! Has anyone else suffered the same? Thinking of planting barley will the crawler affect it? Applied about 20th of November 2020? Thanks for any advice
