Winter sheep grazing

Hi ive few field's close to home with good grass on them would it be better ate down clean now or let it stay there to turn ewes and lambs into in spring i have winter grazing available. Cheers

Ideally it could do with grazing down now. However, if you want to put your own sheep on it in a few months time, I would be extremely wary of letting someone else put sheep on it beforehand, purely from the worm/disease point of view. If you can’t get cattle over it, or put your own sheep on for a bit (if only to take the top off it), i’d Sooner buy in some store lambs and quarantine them properly before grazing it, or leave it until Spring.

Well if theres loads I would rather graze it off allowing new grass to come through springtime that would be the best way to do it really ?
