Wiper Motor

I should not be titting around with the old JCB 814 more important things really.

Top wiper will not work, broken wire. Join wire and it is continuous. Still will not work. Bottom motor works so I swap them then the former working motor will not work when connected to the top wiring if that makes sense.
There is a park facility so what should I have with the four wires going to each motor? Can you make a park type motor run as a straight on off with two wires with out a mod? One of the wires is earth as the motor is mounted direct to the glass.

TIA

Will the top motor work in the bottom?

No auto park "straight On/Off
If you can see the wires going into the motor from the gearbox, yes you can wire direct bypassing the auto stop switch. You may also find the wiper floats on past the stop point, especially on a wet screen.

Usually three wires going into the motor, earth, speed one and speed two.
If you cant see the wires easy enough, but might be harder to strip out the gearbox/auto park switch to hard wire.

Wiper motor 4 pin plug:
1. You should have a constant 12Volt supply
2. An earth
Check with a bulb across these two voltmeter wont load them enough.

3. Low speed On/Off controlled by the switch usually 12volts
4. High speed on/off controlled by the switch again usually 12volts.

3 and 4 are just used to move the motor/blades off the bottom, so they may well be switched earths rather than switched 12Volt supply. Its easier that way and depends on the manufactures

See how you go ...........

Thanks Mursal. I got it going, what threw me was a second wire broken internally. No speed changes but four wires and you are right when the wiper switch is operated one wire seemed to change to earth. Working but I am not sure how it really works. I guess there is a switch in the motor activating the park?
