sold the bulk of the spring barley for November at £135 but they have only just collected it had 3 loads left. got a price of £147 for moment straight away. Wheat prices totally flat, rape going down. Seems we haven't got much right this season so far.

That’s very good. Got ours wrong last bit sold for £157 so still short of you. Going into bury st Edmund

We're selling spring malting barley at £165 atm. Average ex farm price so far of what's sold has been £163. Feeling very lucky that we've only had 2 loads out of around 20 rejected, although have had some claims. At least makes up for the rather indifferent yields we've got over the last few years.

The craziest thing about your post is they rejected 2 loads out of 20. Presumably it was from the same soil, areas and harvested around the same date? How come they rejected it?

Front of the heap. Moisture a bit high and germination a bit low. Fair enough in my book. Everything from then on has been fine. Actually we had two very different harvesting dates. You can see the colour difference here:

In the end everything (except the front has made the grade). I was worried that the later stuff might have been stood out too long.

What's the black stuff on the face of the heap? I'm guessing that the paler stuff on the left was harvested after a lot of rain...

My average sale price wasn't that high either as forward sold expecting a well oversupplied market. 40% sold for this harvest at minimum price contacts of £153/t for 1.85N Planet/Laureate

Not sure what the black stuff is. It's not a recent photo; I took it just after tipping the load at harvest. Paler stuff was after a fair amount of rain.
