New sweep augers arrived this afternoon. More photos hopefully tomorrow, with the final pour for the first base.

Concrete completed on the first base this afternoon, will looked a bit smarter once it is floated, cured and swept.

The blue markings on the bottom left are for the pad where the new electrical cabin will sit.

Ventilation ducting being measured and cut, ready for the third pour for the second base.

The underground shuttering for the electric cabin is nearly done.

Some silo steelwork and the conveyors & elevators should be arriving in the next two weeks.

This is very interesting. We are having a 700 ton stirring bin put up later this spring, the entire floor is a mesh though, for drying, so I think the groundworks will be simpler.

The 7 conduit tubes concreted into the floor of the cabin will carry the cabling for the conveyors, elevators and temperature monitoring.

This is very interesting. We are having a 700 ton stirring bin put up later this spring, the entire floor is a mesh though, for drying, so I think the groundworks will be simpler.

Your base will be a bit technical, to have a fully vented floor, but probably done in one pour if it's a 6m diameter.

I'd be interested to see the size of your fan and your airflow volumes for using heated air.

It's 12.8 metre diameter with an 18.5kw fan.

It will be feeding our chicken feed mill and we intend to blend wheat and rye or barley in it. We've added the drying floor and heater because our mobile dryer is 30+ years old so it represents a cost effective way of replacing it whilst we're building a silo for another purpose if you like.

The stirrers will blend it all up, we have a trailer on weigh cells and/or incoming weighbridge tickets to keep a track of amounts? It will also have the effect of regularising protein levels between different varieties or fields of wheat etc.

Only one pour left to do on the second base, trench dug for outloading conveyor and the concrete pad poured for the elevator.

Here is a close up of the electric cabin base. The conduit tubing will carry the cabling underground and rises up through the concrete where the elevator will sit.

The sweep auger will do everything except the last inch or so. The rest is usually a job for agency labour.

6 artics arrived today, bringing the silo steelwork from Spain.

I think the drivers had about 6 words of English between them...
