What are people paying for bulk wood chip?

I get a full load delivered by an artic walking floor jobby and it's just gone north of £100/ tonne.

My last load of G50 was £95/t. Someone else. Quoted me £31/m3 which I think would work out at over £120/t. My third quote came in late after I had already ordered at £68/t. When I quizzed them if it was G50 M25 spec he replied ' it's grade A wood chip' which I assume by the price difference ment it wasn't G50 spec.

I'd say that it would be recycled if quoting grade a wood chip not virgin wood

if cattle manure was dried out and possibly pelleted would it have any value as a biomass fuel
I'd imagine so, but I don't think you'd be getting RHI certified boilers running on it.

What would be really interesting is seeing if you can find a way of claiming the RHI to do it though.

so if i dried it slowly in a polytunnel without much cost would it have any value as an unpelleted loose material
I'm not sure it would get down to a low enough moisture content without putting in some energy to dry it. In a polytunnel you would likely have to be blowing through a lot of air to keep it evaporating.

I think there could be sufficient energy in it to be used as fuel, especially with lots of straw.

Do a test and find a calorific value for it, see how well you can get it to burn in various states.

Of course the moisture content will get down low enough in a polytunnel. but for making pellets you would stiil need to put it through a hammer mill as pellets require more of a flour to pelletise. You would be far better producing briquettes that could be used in a chp plant. Its a standard product in Baltic countries.
