Get one at 100x75 then nail a strip of 25x75 on top of same timber ,,lather it in creosote ,,nobody will notice

I suppose your friendly local joiner can't modify one for you? They are usually bolted together.

If you haven't got many to put in, I'd chance it.

If they come to measure the gate. Give them a tape measure with the first 25mm chopped off.

The top and sides tend to be dowelled or star dowelled together rather than bolts. Bolts for slats to braces

That was our solution so long as you used 125mm ironmongery there was not a problem.
Found a local gate company that will change the top rail for us thankfully. Tempted to just chance it but don't know how officious the grant inspector will be? The spec says to use a local type or the specification set in there book. No local type here, just metal ones!!!!! The grant is for new woodland so only for access for maintanace and to keep livestock out. Still can't get my head around wooden gates especially as they want them to last at least 10 years. A neighbour did his woodland grant with the wooden gates and they lasted about 6 months after his cows rubbed up and down against them. Crazy.

More chance of some joker lifting a wooden gate to sell on aswell
