Woodland burials.

It's an interesting concept but what happens after 99 years? Do we assume that nobody will care any more? Say the trees were felled and the land returned to agriculture, would there be any risk of comeback? Or is the intention that it remains a wood for as long as it takes?

In my case I would try and covenant it in such a way as once me and the boss are planted up, none of our descendants could flog it off, eg if none of our lot are interested, then it automatically gets deeded to the woodland trust.

Just found a pic of the burial ground, as you can see we keep paths mown for access but the graves themselves have grass growing long till haymaking time, then it all gets cut.

Thing is, you have a better chance of being undisturbed in a wood. Our churchyard recently had a wall collapse and the wheelbarrow of bones we chucked in another pit and 're-blessed' or some such. Nice. Plus after so long I think they can use the same grave again can't they?

Have visited @Goatherderess ' site and it's stunning. Something we are looking at now on an awkward half acre triangle which is good for nothing much but has amazing views and is very peaceful. I'm guessing longer term it just turns into a bit of woodland and our descendants would then either leave and enjoy it or require further payment for further tenure? Perhaps on a small site, one of the buried's grand children may want to buy the whole site at that time?

Probably not, but who knows- lots of people look for a place for their pets and marketed correctly you could be onto a winner - especially as there are quite a few green burial sites round you but no pet ones I believe.
