Wool Press

yup, looks like a cardboard baler, they are ten a penny.

Not sure if they'd do the same job (wool is packed into a square bag, a bit like a tote bag - cardboard is just compressed and strapped?), but certainly the principles are the same/very similar...

Also not sure how heavy a cardboard bale can be made to? The wool bale from a press is around 200kg IIRC so the press might be a lot stronger?

I hope pressing it adds a lot of value/saves a lot of transport cost - that doesn't look cheap :X3:

If they were cheap we would all have one - they've got to be better loaded/built onto lorries than wanky half filled sheets that sag/slip despite being well strapped down!

Your Herdie wool will pay for one 😉 my ewes paid for a brand new packing crate with last year's cheque, and still left me £££ over after shearing and spraying

Have some hebs and not sure what to do with wool. Where do I send it to have it spun and made in to something?
Depends on how much and what you want doing with it plus what your turn round time is.
Under 500kg is very expensive but if your not in a rush some firms are cheaper than others, on average a hundred kilos of greasy wool will cost you £2k to get 60kg of knitting wool back.

If you want to flirt with danger, get a crank press.
Squash the sheets against a wall with the telehandler at the moment and band them together with rope. Crude and not that effective but that’s what the wool board do at the collection centres so I guess it’s the approved method

Well, the wool job has suddenly taken a turn for the better.

I may have to break my 'unswerving alligence' to the WB.
Out of the blue, I've had a chap ring me up and ask for 25-30 Lincoln fleeces for some new venture he's embarking on and a local girl wants a sheet full of Herdy wool and another one of Lincoln wool for another new project :woot:
