Wool sheets that leave here average 108/109kg every year.
My rousie’s best is 55 Cheviot Hoggs or 102 blackie ewes
When they used to send the price of wool in the post one page said "pack more wool to save haulage, average for collection center 60kg, your average 92kg". Always a personal challenge for my misses to pack 100kg in.

What are you all messing about with wool sheets for ? Years ago I loaded the lorry(A ten tonne clydedale) with our wool backed in the shed at stamford and they graded it there and then.!!

The new sheets have two very secure straps at each end.

And two prominent notices saying: ''Do not use the straps for lifting''. Twarts.

It's cos a lad fell off a lorry pulling on a sack strap that snapped and he didn't bounce well, Go steady!

On the floor the handles are useful, just on't rely on them!

We realised no sheets day before shearing, thought have to run to Stamford, but luckily a local farm is a drop off for sheets so a lot easier

So why are the straps there? How much has it cost for the Wool Board to sow on the straps. And how much did it cost and how much ink was wasted in stamping notices at each end, warning us not to use the straps for lifting?

I wonder if the message about not lifting is meant for the wool depot when the bags are slung over the sorting table and hanging over people. They're pretty obsessed with HSE when you aren't allowed to go on your trailer to get bags off, even though you had to get on there to load it
