My wool been going to irish man for last 20 years. Almost doom and gloom last few years with prices. Last year 750 fleeces paid ÂŁ1900 this years clip is still guaranteed atleast 1300 but could be more depending when he decides to sell. Wool board are shower of shites!

Cavalier Bremworth, NZ's largest carpet manufacturer that takes 3% of the national clip, has just announced their long term programme to assist the strong wool industry to maintain inter-generational production of high quality strong wools. Bremworth 100% wool carpet 10 year supply contracts.

They have faith in this end use and are developing closer ties with the digital sector for promotion.
No publically available details yet with prices they are currently offering, or how they will adjust their prices over time. Despite these questions remaining unanswered to the public, some large scale producers (two I personally know) have signed up and appear enthusiastic with the supply contract.

I expect once they settle in with the initial partners they will open up to greater numbers. However it will definitely not be a dumping ground for any wool outside of their strict quality band (fibre diameter, colour, bulk and tensile strength), as Merino NZ has shown at the fine end of wool production.

I applaud such arrangements for taking significant quantities of quality product that gives producers surety for their future. This system is working very successfully with some meat exporters to supply world markets with a consistent top end product with an eating and health point of difference. If producers get to share some of the premium receipts they will do their part to maintain supply.
