Ask Irish farmers who have no bw how they get on .
What does nondescript wool from mules mean?
That's why we need to kick up a stink now - so the WB wakes up and does something about it before it's too late............No, come back in 5 years. Then you’ll likely see a thread lamenting the loss of the auction system, with the Irish guys’ fans leading the charge no doubt, whilst still slating anyone that dares to sell dw.
I’ve a photo of some freshly shorn ewes somewhere that would put you off ever using them. A BFL would have more shape.
Is the wool worth anything though?. A guy that breeds them near me burns the wool as it's less hassle.Put a Valais Blacknose over every horned ewe in the country
I don’t know… cross sh!t with sh!t just makes more sh!t…We're talking of putting them into a Swale... there's no carcase to start with so anything is an improvement

Or pricked ears…True. Slap pretty colourings on their face and folks go mad for it though
It's like @yellowbelly wool... it has a high value. Bit you need quantity to make a viable lot size for any processor to really want it.
A handful fleeces each year is no good to the 'big boys' but present several thousand fleeces annually...
What would be ideal, is to have some sort of National organisation that could co-ordinate collection of those small quantities from a zillion small producers, grade & lot it together, then auction those sizeable lots.
And return any money that remains to the producer after they've taken their handling costs out first. What would be ideal, is to have some sort of National organisation that could co-ordinate collection of those small quantities from a zillion small producers, grade & lot it together, then auction those sizeable lots.

@yellow belly What was the value of your high quality but low volume wool, you received from the WB for last year's wool? It's like @yellowbelly wool... it has a high value. Bit you need quantity to make a viable lot size for any processor to really want it.

We haven't been paid for it yet as this year's is still here but the WB price list for it says 5p/kg@yellow belly What was the value of your high quality but low volume wool, you received from the WB for last year's wool?
5p/kg Have you made a mistake there? You need an national organisation to gather up all the small quantities from across the nation to create a viable lot to sell at auction. We haven't been paid for it yet as this year's is still here but the WB price list for it says 5p/kg

But the Lincoln fleeces weigh like lead, you'd only need half a dozen to get an 8t lot .But as @yellowbelly has said before... his wool is grown in such little volume nationally it can take a few years to grow enough wool for 1 lot in WB auction.
As I've said, you need quantity/critical mass
Not yet but will do soon, I have noticed they like the Romney wool@Hilly , have you dropped your Romney wool off to gala yet?
When I took my stuff in, the lad offloading it got very excited. Oh this is Romney wool, that’s fantastic, thanks very much!
It made a pleasant change from the usual sullen faced dead eyed feckers that usually haunt the workplace of the wool board depots.
Or maybe I’d just got used to going to the Irvine depot in Ayrshire ! ( Haunt of sullen faced dead eyed feckers!)
