:stop: whoa :stop:

Now hang on a minute - I thought you told me they were hers and all proceeds were going to buy the champion Herdy tup at the Cockermouth sale :scratchhead::scratchhead:

Now they're scanned with a big ruck of lambs and you're eyeing up the cash for yourself. Tut, tut, tut 😲

Did anyone see Cammy at the Wool Board? BWMB A very interesting behind the scenes look.

What a first class video which shows very clearly why you still need British Wool to handle our wool to maximise the value.
Also great to see Steve Kitson, the grader who has been working at the Bradford depots for over 40 years.

I will look forward to the next one on the down stream processing, which if you have never been to a Scouring plant will be a real eye opener!

It certainly will. Have been to both the Bradford depot and the scouring plant that's just up the road.
All that mucky wool going in, lots of water, steam and strange machinery and pure, white soft shanks of wool winding out of the other end 👍

Cammy has probably done more to promote the wool board in that one video than the board has done itself in the last 10 years. The board really needs a good kick up the &rse in terms of moving with the times especially with their social media presence which is absolutely dire. Whatever was to stop BWMB making a similar type video to Cammy's themselves and posting it on social media . Especially last year when so many disillusioned producers were questioning the very existence of the board. Also take for instance shearer training which has always been a stronghold of the board and which over the years has helped to develop most of the UKs top shearers. Now sadly, many trainees are opting to go to courses run by private individuals simply because they are so much better advertised and promoted through social media.

On the shearing courses….
Down here in Wales, much of the training is heavily subsidised through Farming Connect (which is funded from the 15% modulation withheld from our BPS). The shearing courses are all run by BWMB I think. I’ve never seen anyone else offering them tbh.

Loads of farmers around here don't give wool to the WB anymore.you'd think at some point its going to start an hurt them.
Not been in sheep for over fifty years, not read all the pages on wool prices but last month my insurers doubled my annual premium because l was using the same type of insulation as the London tower block that fired, an extra note with the letter said any future development should contain natural fibres for insulation, l know sheep wool is being used for insulation, why are we not seeing it being used more when the base material is so low???

Because it is 3x the price of fibreglass (well it was when we did our loft years ago) . Needs Govt intervention in the marketplace for it to happen. Easiest way for them to do this would be to stipulate wool used in all Govt contracts. Blatant hypocrisy for them to tell us to do it otherwise.

This issue of insulation was raised at a meeting the other night. The response from CEO of BWMB was that insulation is a low value market and there are far better prices to be gained in higher end outlets. Don't shoot the messenger but just what we were told.
