our wool will as the last few years be given to the clipper man on top of his charge as a tip i.e he can bag it along with his own or take it to the tip but we have less than 70 to shear ( we use them as pasture management tools)so its more hassle getting them sheared for welfare reasons than bothering with the wrapping and bagging and getting a pittance for the wool

The folks that defend this farce is the reason why we have it and partly the reason why it hasn’t improved.
Some of us think it’s ridiculous but many more are very happy with the service and defend it.
That’s fair enough to me. Personally I don’t think wool is worth arseing on with especially when it’s providing mega money for some but nothing for the producer. The people who employ the wool board. I don’t want to be part of something that is costing me more in labour to handle than it’s worth but then keeping a load of hangers on. No thanks. Anyone working here has plenty to do which is worth while instead of humouring something no one agrees with

People keep asking me for answers of questions I haven’t asked.
What’s the options ?
semd wool to board as normal
Send wool to texa cloth
Dump wool
Or get involved in board and sort it out ?
Only option appeals to me is send it in as normal as texa cloth undermine trade , dumping it is silly it’s worth £190 ton to me , and I don’t want to get involved in wool board , which option you going for ?

No idea. I will think of something I usually do
No point saying anything to wool board as many are happy as things are

I wouldnt volunteer for the board option, you might be corrupted and have a 100k salary forced upon you🤣

Dont think the difference is that major from London to outside though. But it’s clear that we don’t really know. I would say that £79k is way too low, compared to average professional wages.
I suppose it takes into account all companies not just the big ones , who knows the internet is normally very reliable 🤔😂😂

As a benchmark, average salaries for qualified engineers (not managers) in some industries was over £50k in 2018.

I’ve got quite tired of folk over the years (not just on here, or with reference to BWMB) who constantly criticise these operations and call for them to be scrapped, but at the same time offer no ‘better’ alternative.

It’s always very easy to bitch from the sidelines, but much harder to make constructive proposals that might actually move things forward.🤐

Has to be worth less than straw , mines worth more .
Not worth anything when you take the whole cost of getting it into the wool depot. We have mainly Welsh and first cross ewes. The only wool I delivered into the WB last year was from ewes grazing outlying land and I had to drive past the wool depot to get back home! Most went straight into cattle sheds as bedding, no bagging, wrapping or haulage .... cows kept well on it as a base for straw. Only slight worry was young calves trying to eat it and panicking every morning thinking there were dead sheep under the cattle!!
