Work boots

I have a pair of USMC desert boots with steel toecaps, that came back from Afghanistan with my SIL.

Definitely as comfy as the Meindls I've had, but no good in the wet.

I almost went out and bought a pair of Redbacks a few months ago as I had got through 4 pairs of Dickies zip sided boots in 18 months. The Redbacks didn't materialise as nobody stocked them big enough and I just happened to walk into another agri shop in Hereford, Len Evans, and he'd got some PERF boots in, both Steel toecap and non ones. I tried a pair on and have hardly taken them off since. Memory foam insole, the elastic sides are not losing it plus they are really light. They're the best pair of dealer boot style boots I have ever bought and at £50 for steelies I'm more than happy. The soles are doing well and give a fair bit of grip on slimy mud, well impressed

Rossi are rubbish I'm afraid, my first pair came with soles partially off, replacement pair have parted in only a few months. Have Tigersealed them back on good enough to do harvest.
Disappointed tbh.

I’ve recently switched from Redbacks to Blue Steelers. They give much better ankle support but are still easy to take off because they have zips down the side. Lace up once at the front then use the zip after that. Seem good quality and better support. Might get a bit hot in the summer though!

every mine & construction site in Australia, you will only see the lace / zip sided boots.
I wouldn’t worry about them getting too hot, I wear them all year round & when it gets above 40C, your feet are the last thing you worry about getting hot 🤣

Is the downfall of the boots shown, “ not much ankle support”?

a lot of worksites here ( mining, heavy construction, even local councils ) now don’t approve elastic sided boots as suitable & only supply lace up or lace / zip side boots as PPE
Not enough ankle support with elastic sides
