Aldi work trousers are great really comfortable and hard wearing i find the pockets get holes in before the trousers wear out and only and £8.99 a pair
I am a fat bast#rd and the aldi work trousers last me well,had some for over 2 years now and apart from the pockets they are still good

+1 for Carharrt, have the double fronted ones, code B01 iirc, get a bit heavy in the summer, so have the same style but in a lighter fabric, code EB316 iirc. Still a bit thick for hot weather, but if uni need the protection, then you need it! Last pretty well, you've got to remember how long your actually wearing the things, long days, 7 days a week!
Also have Carharrt shorts, they are nice too.

Get the Carharrt stuff from Rugged & Tough, they are always easy to deal with.

Got some Dunlop work trousers, from sports direct, for a lad that works for us, made with that Cordura (think I've spelt that right) fabric, to be fair they have worn really really well, and dry very quickly if you get wet. So I've got some of those for warm days, as they are not as thick as the Carharrts.

i wear chinaman lined combats off ebay , wear well and warm , or shearing trousers (v hard wearing double thickness legs ) , but they are a skinny leg fit so arnt for everyone .
