Working holidays?

I have had students and similar staying in the house for a working holiday before but not done it for quite a few years. They didn't get paid and lived as a member of the family, but it was all a bit laid back without any real hours and not a lot of work! I provided feed and water and accommodation in the house but I'm thinking a separate caravan might be a better idea. Anyone do it? What do people expect these days? Last time visitors helped here with working dogs, this time it would be horses.

I cant help on this but surely you want to break even - if you are bed and board then the work needs to cover work completed. I would consider looking into something like WWoofers but these are organic farms. https://www.wwoof.org.uk/ but I am sure there are other organisations that can help. I always thing you need to ensure its done correctly with insurance etc.

Thanks for the link.

I have employers liabiity and public liability insurance as I've been using local youngsters, but this is rural so they all have their own horses which, obviously, come first. I see that The National Trust actually charge volunteers which seems a bit cheeky! A neighbour uses Workaway and that works for them.
