Workshop safe room

Starting to think I need a higher level of security for some of the tools I have accumulated, it starts to add up and you could get away with a few £k in minutes with chainsaws, cordless gear(lots) and plasma.
BUT I hate the idea of not having everything to hand. I am thinking a smallish strong room or even box with everything on trollies would be better than just a room with shelves. A well designed trolly with all the cordless gear on and chargers set up so you can wheel out to where you are working and plug in would be quite efficient.
So the box design? I’m thinking old oil tanks can be had for nothing so double skin(or even triple) would be right royal pita to get through. Just got to sort an impregnable door.
Any good ideas photos welcome.

I think the 'everything on a trolley' is a good one. the issue will be how much hassle you want when you want to get the trolley out.

personally I wouldn't be too worried about locking the trolley itself away because once they're in there they are going to get what they want Anyway. Noise is scary and painful so the trolley locks only need to be good enough until they need to leave.

We just use steel cupboards with padlocks.then everything isn't in the same place.it won't stop them but it will slow them down .and make shure the insurance is up to date with tool values. It's easy to keep adding expensive tools .but how many have increased the insurance values accordingly.

Would the fabric inside chainsaw clothing stop a grinder? That would be my first thought sandwiched in between sheets of metal but I suppose the weak point in the link would be the lock and door

Probably not but wood or concrete might slow them. Rock wool Insulation would be nasty to cut I would have thought.
I always think hiding stuff in plain sight is the way to go. the plan for my new workshop includes big heavy doors on an internal block wall that will lead to nothing.

Last time we had a big break in on the main barn they missed the fact that the storage container alongside wasn't locked!

I do wonder if they target places with big heavy looking doors with large padlocks. Thinking theirs something good inside.

im sure thats the case,

i try keep stuff out of sight and have alarm on building with anything of worth, there not mentally secure just locked doors with a beam alarm on yard so i know if someones about before they actually get in, well its 1 alarm linked to a few things.

Police came out to help advise they said they will spend ours quietly cutting into stuff, im sure she said they were at one farm 4 or 5 hours...

This made me think its pointless locking stuff up if you dont know anyone trying to steal it, they will just quietly demolish anything you have put in place to slow them down, she said get a nice loud alarm or master blaster and some beam sensors as soon as they go off ring us (particularly beam sensor the they could catch them in the act) but chances are they will do one as your alerted they are about.
