Worming lambs at weaning

So we normally always worm lambs at weaning. Already had to worm twice this year with a white in may then a yellow end of june. Took dung to vets and vet couldnt see gut worms this time. Although slaughter house sheet come back with 10% with lung worms. So vet says just do all smaller under 35kg lambs with noromectin 0.08% and not to use cydectin clear drench as more chance of building resistance to it. It just seems strange to me not worming them all in a high stress situation. There seems to be different thinking if lung worm bothers lambs or not.

What do others do at weaning?
I think its been a long time since they were last wormed in june....‍

Lungworms don’t show up on FEC, unless they are coughing up eggs and happen to ingest them, so a low FEC is no measure of lungworm infection.
Are the lambs coughing when gathered, which has always been the case when i’ve Had an issue with lungworm. I’ve always managed to clear it quickly with a yellow or clear wormer, as 8 can’t see how leaving them can’t cause lung damage, like it would with cattle.

I don’t see the logic in worming anything under a certain weight. Under a certain dlwg perhaps, but not the actual weight. If FEC is very low anyway, they don’t need worming. Not sure whether white wormer kills lungworm reliably, but if it does then maybe a dirt cheap white wormer might be in order, to save selection for resistance to other groups. Failing that, yellow would be next on the list, but longer meat withdrawal.

There not coughing that im aware of just see lungworm in the kill sheet. I have read nearly every sheep worming thread on here and im no further forward. Hopfully i wont regret my decision not to worm at weaning. My vet doesnt tell me what the counts are, just if i should do them or not...

Not to be rude at all but have you talked to your vet specifically about lungworm? Like @neilo says FEC is gut worms. Honestly, get your own kit. I've pulled a few poor doers out this year (my flock is tiny), their worm count is almost identical to the main group.
