Worried about meat suppliers

Can any one please help me I would like to know where Aldi meat comes from it’s all labelled Ashfields who don’t exist
I tried to gain information and did find out that the pork etc comes from America
Who indirectly get it from Mexico and other countries ?

I don’t use Aldi for this reason. It may well be cheap but cheap meat is poor in my experience. I’ve tried Aldi numerous times but I’ve never had any decent meat so we just don’t bother now. Fill the freezer up once a year direct off a farm now.

Have a look on the label and it will give you the plant it is cut in. A google of that will get you started. I suspect that different parts of the country may have different suppliers though - certainly quite a lot of Aldi produce is locally supplied and will be UK sourced.

I know that the Aldi Wagyu steaks I saw last week were cut in plant 2241, which is in Sheffield.

American pork doesn't sound right to me

Agreed.

I think maybe most will be imported it would have to be in that ratio to keep up with demand
And Google said that was where the pork originated from as I said America who got it from Mexico etc

No, I disagree. Last I checked, Aldi were mostly UK sourced, and clearly labelled when not (as is a legal requirement). Are you just trying to cause trouble, or do you really think that they would be pulling in meat from the other side of the world whilst the pork price is on the rails?

Feel free to provide a link to your google source though - will be interesting to see. I suspect that you've somehow got yourself onto the Aldi USA site, which would use local and Mexican sources - am I right?

I will investigate

is this yet another case of the consumer confused as to the origin of the product ? why oh why cant the labelling of food be sorted out so the consumer, buyer knows exactly where the product was grown, born, raised etc etc? this has been going on for years and years?

Have a look at the photo I posted above. Could you really think there was any ambiguity with that one?

I think you may be right @Robt

Wonder what the agenda was though - all very strange.

I think we should welcome any attempts by consumers to check the provenance of their food.
It could be genuine confusion because of the fictional farm names that the supermarkets use as labels, combined with some alarmist googling.
