After the worst tractor thread and the if you could buy a new one thread.

What is the worst machine you have owned or used??

Think mine was a 3 drum Claas mower that was crap from start till death.
It was an unusual 7ft one totally on the lift, too heavy for tractors at the time, and crap working too, remember the half bout that laid on the previous one? Who thought that up? Eventually it split in half.

Claas 40 forage harvester wasn't far behind it either, it was a joyus day when it ate the shearbar and blew up for the final time. Not that i showed my happiness in front of dad!!

Mine would have to be a cat 432e backhoe I had five years ago.could not grade with it at all.either boom or dipper but not both at same time.plauged with electrical problems and had a fitter from finnings out for ten full days in the short time I owned it.eventually told finnings I'd sell it if they could not sort it.they bought it back and I got another brand.

Massey Ferguson 19 manure spreader. We had 2, dreadful things. Bed chains snapped on them constantly no matter how careful you were loading them. I even remember one breaking AFTER l had emptied the load. Ah well, at least for once l didn't have to fork it all out by hand before it could be mended again.

My Vicon fert spreader. Bought second hand with a non standard (I presume) rate governor.
'Negotiations' have been ongoing for 25 years without much success.:(
And Grimme Allrounder. Not a bad machine, I suppose, but a decade trying to get it to separate organic spuds from small stones and weeds took it's toll.
Oh...and Beeson plough...whoever designed that shearbolt system wants a foot up the a*se.

Lely centerliner, not the superbowl type....was a horrendous machine, always blocking up and leaking fert everywhere, never did manage to get it to achieve a constant spread rate for more than a few minutes at a time

IH B47 baler, less said about that, the better!!!

Vicon reciprocating powerharrow...before my time admittedly, but grandfather told the tale of getting a new one many moons ago, first time out in the field working it managed to pass over a nest of eggs without even breaking a shell

Fermerboy, I am going to continue the "crap claas ideas" theme.

Our Jaguar 62 chopper made silage time a bloody nightmare!

Whoever designed the pick-up reel lifting system should have been dangled by the goolies on a barbed wire fence!

It has certainly put us off considering slime green products!!

Matbro Teleram 40. Noisy, uncomfortable, leaked oil everywhere, rubbish lighting, gearbox made of soft cheese.
Did my back in driving it, and has never been the same. Dad keeps it for some odd reason, even though it isn't used anymore.

A tricky choice between a Krone baler that was as noisy as feck and a complete PIA most of the time, a Krone tedder made of cheese and a Krone mower conditioner that really couldn't do heavy crops, left a terrible finish and had 3 major breakdowns and repairs in about 50 acres of mowing. Safe to say I'm not krones biggest fan

It's a toss up between a chaviot sp sprayer and an armer salmon beaver 2 row trailed beet harvester . Both only lasted here one season but I aged a decade.
They are the only machines I have shouted at (a la Basil Fawlty.)

A claas 254 rotocut baler takes up third place , while not near as bad as the other two it also got the road at the end of season one.

Can't understand how anyone could keep a troublesome machine hoping it will improve next year.

Bettison triple disc, closely followed by our old MF 240 cable driven post banger. Nearly killed me once, and nearly took all my fingers off a second time. One did kill a young bloke locally when the top link failed and it fell on him whilst driving the tractor.

I've said this before as I think I couldn't do without it and it's hellish handy, but I hate out bobcat with a passion. I'm a tall chap and it's claustrophobic, all the levers are in weird places and I just hate every single second in it. I hate it with a passion!
