Trailers 30 year ago or more used to have stickers on saying "do not work under unpropped body" ffs so why such a surprise.

Sticker or no sticker, you wouldn't catch me working on one unpropped.

But that's not the point being addressed here - it's their attitude/principle and the way they come across as all powerful and righteous.

If the post had been "Please remember to prop your trailer before working on it" or something like that, it would have been a lot less militant.

Having a trailer prop is all well and good - but if it's stuck in the back of the workshop forgotten about just to tick a box then it does no good for anybody.

Exactly that, the high and mighty attitude and claims of legal requirements is the point. We all know working under anything unpropped is risky, but I bet everyone does it now and then.

The comments have been removed and a new post with the relevant standards has been posted. Tilly Pass don't seem to like criticism...
Standards aren’t the same as regulations though, are they?

And the last sentence is blatant scaremongering for work.

“Failure to meet the standards or to provide a suitable alternative method must be considered non-compliance of the SMSr.”🤥

If I had more time, I’d be pushing this one to the ASA.

It is very sad and tragic why Tilly pass was set up,but was it completely down to the trailer that was being towed at the time?
was the lad that tragically lost his life skilled/trained to handle the kit he was using, were the ground conditions a part to blame in his accident?
I think more needs to be done with training young drivers, rather than telling farmers and contractors that there kit is sub standard. Just my opinion 👍

The usual prop used to be a piece of 4x2.

When I refurbished my 4 tonne trailer and realised that I would have to replace the hydraulic pipes and electric cable, I made a steel prop just to be sure.
