Diesel , climate change is fake news , the world has cycles , always has had .

Ah but Boris has decreed that all new builds (& properties undergoing “extensive“ renovation) must have an EV charge point fitted from next year.

All from renewable energy

Fantastic

The purchase price doesn’t make them cheap to own. Car dealer friend of mine has actively stopped pushing elec because it’s costing him due to arguing between the car manufacturer and battery manufacturer. He literally can’t afford to sell them at the moment and is stuck in the middle of some very big problems.

our ev is proving very cheap so far £100- £150 per week fuel bill gone, no road tax, no emmision zone charges - no significant service bills (there is nothing to service) and it’s depreciating a lot slower than the ICE it replaced did

then the tax savings and mind blowing performance ………

absolute no brainer now (capital cost aside). i would not even consider a ICE car now for daily / family use

why are people who don’t have EV’s always experts on why the don’t work btw ?

interesting psychology i think !

i suspect people who use EV’s daily probably best qualified to say how well they work and what they cost to use / own etc

i’m yet to meet a EV owner that goes. back to ICE
You need to look at other forums. Just saying......

My next car will prob be an electric. I'm all about the fast forward pedal though, don't need any other justification thanks.

23% of new car registrations in October were plug ins. He must be doing well if he can afford to ignore almost a quarter of the market, forecast to continue to grow... With all types of cars in high demand, and supply very tight It's quite something for a dealer to be turning his back on any type of sale to keep turnover going.

My EV in for a service at main dealer this week- typical out of town park, with a load of dealers next to each other. I'd not been to a dealer since I test drove the model of car I have, back in Sept 2020. Then the Etron was an anomaly in the Audi dealer, the MB dealer didn't have an EQC for me to try, and the VW dealer at same park had no EVs available- with the Golf GTE withdrawn. Now, all three forecourts were I'd say 50% BEV or PHEV

most peoples next new car will probably be electric
How many miles on a charge do you get, do you get anxious about the battery going flat if you get stuck in a traffic jam, and approx how much was your EV? Don’t answer the last one if you don’t want to. And how much does a full charge cost?

My wife has just ordered a Hyundai Kona fully electric car on a 3 year lease. Fully maintained for less than £300/month. She previously has always bought low mileage second hand cars. Her last BMW 1 series has lost £110/month in depreciation, cost £150/month in fuel and the best part of another £100 a month in maintenance, Mots, insurance etc. Going electric was a no brainer. With a range of 250+miles probably will only need to charge once every 10 days.

His brand has a surplus of them parked up not registered. I prefer to listen to somebody who owns a dealership and gas to sell the things.

It’s a £100,000 + car ……….

exactly - capital cost is the only downside i can see or agree with

however cost of use / ownership is probably more important when you can finance for next to nothing

you don’t have to spend 100k plus either - 30k -40k gets some decent new options today which do not look so bad vs similar new ICE cars

don’t t forget tax savings either - for a business owner or company user on salary sacrifice paying higher rate tax that 100k could be actually be less than half that price in reality …….. no brainer
