Would you take it? (40ha of payed grazing)

I don't fear it will not work financially however I agree with everyones hesitation about breakouts 50 miles away.

I'll check if excluding it from the deal and take the 4 other sites (total of 35ha) which are much closer (20miles max). Or investigate if haying that particular site is possible.

The fifth site, 50 miles away, will only generate €3k maybe slightly more per year from grazing it. Just that those hiring me would like to have one single farmer taking it all.

Use a motorcycle to get around (in the Summer!) for speed and ability to get about quickly and easily. Cheaper than a pickup to run if you find a tidy trail bike.

However you can't spread any fert (manure or from a bag) it's not your average pp. (Dogs, dogwalkers, city folk etc)

My concern as well however the 50 mile one is a permanently fenced cattle location.
Although, permanent fencing can be cut....
If you are getting paid for it, can't you bung someone near a bit of cash to look the block that's 50 miles away?

The far far away block - what's around it?

We have more issue with stock getting in, than getting out - never had an animal willingly leave our property but have had steers, b&w bulls, calves and countless sheep busting in. When the neighbour's lambs wriggle through the fence, he often biffs the ewe over "so she won't dry up" and chucks the twin through as well

and, that's with us living here

I personally wouldn't, but I work a 7-5 job and simplicity is what makes it work for us - if your day can be streamlined (I have no idea what the layout of all these various blocks is like) then it could be done - it's just when sh!t goes bad that it becomes a BIG day
