ON the flat or down a hill?...over here we see lots of Maori overdrive..free wheeling down a hill with a big load on...lots of speed..ringpiece tightens so the driver touches the brakes..4WD engages and blows the UJ's on the driveshaft...either takes the sump off, or if the driveshaft digs into the road it flips the tractor...usual excuse is I was only doing about 30kph !!!!
Two estonian students did that to my tw30
Freewheeled it, prop broke off taking deisel tsnk with it, which had just been filled
Prop cam round and locked the front wheels solid, tractor stood on its nose, then came down.
Right beside a rrservoir
Tractor was written off

I've known of more than one tractor have the 4wd propshaft let go. Case Maxxums, Fastracs, the lot. Shaft lets go and then takes out the sump or whatever else happens to be in the way. One happened to a mate of mine on the A303, hydraulic oil and diesel promptly dumped and the fire brigade and EA were there on scene quacking about pollution instantly. Why the hell manufacturers don't fit something to catch the shaft I will never know.

Those balers, I was told by a man in the know that at least two NH balers in this region had accidents last year because on very very dry ground the balers tyres offered zero grip, driver turns a bit tight and they slide, bending both drawbars!

the prop shaft thing in the old days case used to have a bearing centre of the shaft the maxum 51 series weren't to bad as it had a short wheel base , then they must have had new designers who just thought f###k it we dont need those and hey presto flailing drive shafts:mad: the case mx had a problem that the early ones were longer wheel base and the shaft would banana when the brakes were aplied and it sripped the gearso_O there is a guard on the seven series J D but it doesn't stop it knocking the hydraulic pump off =big bill

My TM one is in an enclosed casting.. its really so t can have front suspension, and the NH T8 is totally enclosed in a sheet steel tube... wonder if there is a grease nipple hidden in there???

Just had ours go on a 6920 but it's the shorter shaft tight getting the bits out any tips to get the new one in?
I’m guessing it’s got a creeper box if it’s only got the short shaft. You’ll need to tilt the cab over to gain access, the shaft shouldn’t actually be that bad to get out/in. There’s a elbow fitting on the front of the powerquad that has a plastic pipe attached, that will probably need to come out. Put the flywheel end of the shaft in first then the pq end should just about drop in.
