Depends on were contact is. If the rear normally yes

That's right. Insurers will assess liability based of where the point of impact is.

You hit the back or the side of another vehicle, they'll blame you -very few people reverse into the car behind or go sideways into another car. Similar where front of one vehicle impacts the front wing of another at an angle-point of impact tells the story.

Likely that when someone emerging from a side road is done for driving without due care & attention, the impact showed you/they hit the side of the vehicle, if the front of your/their vehicle hit the side of the vehicle emerging from the side road, you didn't give yourself enough stopping distance aka driving too fast

If you are on the same carriage way yes but as I said I know 2 people who have been done for driving without due care and attention for hitting cars while emerging into flowing traffic from the left
That is because the intermittent lines along the edge of the carriageway from the slip road mean GIVE WAY! You do not have the right of way

Agreed but there are people saying a car going down a road minding it’s own business should stop when a tractor shoves a front mower/weights into traffic out of a field

I was emerging from a private lane with bucket on loader low to ground due to slope, i had a trailer full of muck behind me and I was doing less than 5 mph. I could see clearly to the right but limited vision to the left.
Car travelling from left on a single track road skidded 30 yards IIRC into the bucket and wrote off the car.
Insurance assessor came out and looked. Because i hadn't stopped, even though i was at a snail pace, when emerging I was deemed to be in the wrong even though i was stopped when the car hit the bucket.
Occupant couldn't ride a horse blah blah blah claimed whiplash etc due to accident that, if I had stopped even for a split second before emerging would have been their fault.
