If you put crash barriers along both sides of every road to prevent crashes, everyone could drive recklessly!
That would be really handy, you could fit a horizontal wheel to the side of your car and a bungee cord to the the steering wheel to apply gentle pressure and let the car follow the barrier all the way to where you want to go, and have a kip on the way.
No ! I'm not being serious ! before some d**kh**d starts slating me.

Actually the Cambridge guided busway runs on this principle. A little castor wheel sticks out in front the front wheel and follows the kerb

Has anyone else gone down that bank since the crash? NO? Then the barrier is adequate

Crash barriers etc are commonly used when motorways overpass another motorway, (you may think they are unnecessary but i think its money well spent) my point was another 30 m of this would probably have prevented this accident being so serious, going off into a field does not justify a barrier.

Another one with more ambition than skill...

Go and look, still no extra Armco... it starts at the top of the slope, they have now put gabions half way down the bank, but one of those concrete walls they have in the central reservations would stop anything leaving the motorway.

There's 70m of barrier from the top of the embankment to where it starts and has been for quite a number of years. Can be clearly seen on Google street view, and BTW I pass it 3/4 times a week.
