Writtle University College (WUC) in Essex and The British Society of Animal Science (BSAS), has announced that Sabrina Brando will be joining the team at WUC, in the role of BSAS Visiting Industry Fellow.

Brando is the director of AnimalConcepts, including the Practical Animal Welfare Science platform, and is the Prime Care Training program coordinator for the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance.

She is also a research associate with the Smithson Institute and a doctoral candidate at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

“Writtle University College is continuing to operate at the forefront of animal and human wellbeing and its interconnectedness,” she said.

I am delighted to engage and connect with Writtle University College through the BSAS Industry Fellowship programme in our joined efforts of scientific and applied collaboration to benefit animal welfare and conservation goals and, importantly, in support of the individuals and organisations who are serving people, the planet and all other animals including the greater community of life.”

The BSAS Industry Fellowship programme was launched by the society’s stakeholder association, which comprises a selection of the animal science sector’s leading organisations and academic institutions.

The association plays an integral role in assisting the society in their objective to increase animal science collaboration, within, and between, academic and industry organisations.

BSAS stakeholder chair, Helen Warren, said:

We are delighted to be collaborating with Writtle University College for our BSAS Industry Fellowship programme and to be able to welcome Sabrina Brando of AnimalConcepts into the role of BSAS Industry Fellow.

“The aim of the BSAS Industry Fellowship programme is to develop more integrated relationships between companies and academic institutions, allowing the former greater access and input to current research, and the latter greater links with the end-user of their research.”
