Anyone having trouble renewing their Bank Feed??

Maybe saying which Bank you are might help, as I assume some might work when others don't ?

I don't have bank feeds so I'm not as familiar how it works compared to some.

I just downloaded a bank statement for each month but I guess Bank feeds when they work would be better.

Was thinking about trying Bank feeds and found some mention on line that the switch to Open Banking was upsetting things a bit in the short term.

The lady in the video explains a way to find out the Bank feeds status, not sure if that would be of any help or if you all know that anyway ??

Any Clydesdale / Virgin customers that could tell me how it's working for them ?

Clydesdale when I first started with Xero couldn't do Bank feeds hence the downloading, I think they can now since the Virgin rebranding.

Happy New Year BTW 😊

We are Clydesdale/Virgin customers and bank feed to xero has never been interrupted.

I have noticed there's been more of a lag between the 2 syncing lately though.

Thanks very much Chae1.

I'd hoped you might reply as I noticed you in a previous post saying you were with Clydesdale / Virgin.

That's good to hear it's working ok, I might give it a try, downloading is ok but a bit of a pain compared to what Bank feeds should be I hope.

I'm not surprised CB is doing ok with this now as I really like their online banking, I remember when the TSB got in a mess a few years bank changing their online system.

What most people didn't realise was that CB was also changing to a different format of online also, they had no real hassle because they kept the old and new both running for ages to give a smooth transition.

For those that don't know, this is what their doing shifting us over to Virgin, when I log in I can click into the old CB system or the new Virgin system, like selling you a new tractor and leaving you the old one until you get up to speed on your new toy 🤣

Rather smart 👍😎

Anyone else having trouble connecting to HMRC through xero?

Vat returns due and I can't access outstanding vat returns from HMRC.

I have renewed the connection to HMRC through government gateway several times but still no joy.

Yes, but on Quick books. No trouble before, now at 39 days it is flagging up the red exclamation mark, renew bank feed. It should last 90 days.
Done it four times now. Bank is happy, but QB takes me in a circle to the same red exclamation mark, and ‘please update’.

If Xero is like Slowbooks, then the handshake between your bank feed renewal and the MTD platform takes a little time. As in hours / days. It’s not instant. I phoned the accountant to ask for help as nothing seemed to be happening, and when he checked, QB had accepted the bank feed renewal and was up to date. That was a week after my scrambling about before, and doing the renewal several times.

Possibly HMRC feed is the same.

I sound as if I know what I’m talking about, but don’t be fooled. 🙄

I did a VAT return this morning, worked perfectly 👍

I remember once having to reset the authority as you have done, it only lasts so long as you know, can't remember the time period.

Couldn't even say how I did it but know I did, just following directions, I'm sure.

Try a search for answers on YouTube or something, I prefer watching a video to tell me how to fix something.

Would deleting temporary files and history help if you tried to reset stuff, just a thought ??

Some things do take a while to change.

If it's any consolation if you're over your time as I did once, the first time you get no penalty.
Maybe not such a big thing either as we're generally claiming rather than paying.

Good luck 👍

OK, our accountants were a great help.

I do the VAT for 3 businesses through that PC. The government gateway login was automatically populating as I don't remember all user ids.

I've found out it was logging into a different government gateway account to the xero account I was on.

You have to renew the government gateway access every 18 months.

Will be more head scratching tomorrow.

I didn't setup government gateway passwords.

Yes, it's pretty straightforward and works well.
I do, but there are alternatives out there which link to Xero and are cheaper. I used to use Mypaye which was £1/person per month, or £2 if you also used it for timesheets. It may be more now - I swapped when my employee numbers made Xero more viable. Mypaye was also capable of handling pension contributions. (Which Xero does too)

Payroll is the only thing I have left with farmplan. I know it’s expensive and probably not the best software but I like to be able to talk to someone. I don’t like making mistakes with the wages
