Xmas breakdown

Straw bedder floor chain has decided to jump on the sprockets not the end of the world but why holidays or weekends bedded by hand this morning till I get time to realign

Not a breakdown as such but father decided to put the loadall bucket through the roof of one of the cattle yards this morning. Tis the season..!

They always do. Had to dig a coupe of tonne of silo out of ours the other weekend as it did the same, our own fault really for not checking the chain. Cut a link out and re tighten and good to go. ordered some u bolts, bones (for the slats), blades (£12 a pair!) are already in and she’s running sweet.

Don‘t know which make you’ve got but watch those u bolts that joins the chain/slats as they give a lot of slack and crack when they wear.

Thats why weve got 2 skidsteers now , always a worry over xmas it breaking down when you rely on something so much.

New one: pipe blown on the jcb bendy, the teleram pipe. used a screw in hyd pipe connector and a trailer tipping pipe to make a proper bodge until someone comes back to work to make a new one.

Loosened it off got it back to where it should be and retightened it away we go

Water pressure really low thismorn so must have a burst somewhere, but with as many puddles about it will be a job finding it [emoji849]

Had ours today. Mother and fathers BMW (potential disaster) looked as though a mouse had chewed through most of the sound proofing on top the engine and one of the fuel return lines between the injectors. Fortunately we have a supply of JD fuel pipe which is the same bore.

Disaster averted. Would never have thought that would happen, car is used most days.

Joining link on the bedder rotor drive chain decided to become detached this morning.

Thought the shear bolt had gone but luckily all the bits were in the guard so popped a couple of new split pins in and good to go again!

Last night fitted new front bearings to the FRONT axles of the skidsteer

Scraped out 2 sheds this morning... Big Crunch a REAR outside wheel bearing had collapsed and likely took the chain out with it making it 3 wheel drive with a very wobbly wheel

The front ones don’t last long because the bucket I have is to big really

buts it’s 7000 hours and first time a back one has gone and I no for a fact nowhere will have the correct oil seal in stock because I had to order in the front one last week

Luckily last week (or unlucky) the boom on my merlo completely snapped. By the end of the day it was welded back together by an excellent welder/engineer im friends with

pushing manure up the heap, fairly large bucket and I obviously pushed the machine to hard. There was cracking that we hadn’t noticed along top and starting going down sides! At least nobody was injured!

Feeding round this morning and a water tank had sprung a leak. Bodged with a metal plate , but bolt and an old rubber glove !
