What I’d like to know why do they leave bales of hay out in a field well into the winter - they must have a lot less rain
Why bring them in? Twice the yardage, stack and then use. Then you need a big enough bale yard too.

Easy to get when the frost is in, no ruts. Work as snow catches to keep snow in the field.

Plus it looks better on TV.
