Xpress bounce.

This year it seems all discs are bouncing ... never known a year like it! Maybe it’s the really dry conditions?
Be aware that many components on modern cultivation machinery simply isn’t designed for serever bounce scenarios. The forces being exserted when 6 or 8 m of metal are bouncing at 10/12/14kph can be massive.
This is why I want to eliminate it, and it leaves a wavy seedbed!

You won’t. It’s a flaw in the design of all these ‘short disc’ setups. I’ve seen a heva disc roller bouncing today. It’s a combination of a central beam with wings hanging off it, no deep working legs holding it in the ground and where the transport wheels sit.

Lots of replies on here are saying that more speed eliminates the issue. I realise warp speed is not always ideal, but it does seem to work.
@Brisel , should I make the discs more aggressive, whilst holding the depth out?

Play around with the angle either way and see how it works at the speed you want. Simba fitted the springs to try and reduce the tendency to bounce in the first place. I had a SL that bounced badly and the man from Simba came and helped me set it up to reduce the bounce.

I’ve tried all sorts, and quite frankly getting fed up with it. Speed seems to work, but I don’t want to roar up and down at 15/16 k.
It was working okay today at 10 k, with the occasional bounce. I just wish I could get it up to 12 k, which feels a comfortable speed and very productive, without having to wind through lots of gears at the headland. (Cat 765)
I know I’m sounding fussy, but that’s me.

Our heva disc roller does the same, always on stubble never on ploughing, been ploughing after it today and where the discs have bounced it leaves a ripple effect in the soil and Christ it's enough to shake your fillings out:sour: seems to be better with just the right amount of pressure on the wings, put the wings into float and I think it would take off!

Kuhn reckon they've solved the bounce by putting the wheels after the discs and in front of the packer. Saves the fancy linkage to bring the weight forward as well.

As mentioned, the Kuhn Optimer trailed discs will not bounce whatever conditions or speed, due to the design of having the transport axle in the middle of the machine.

Hello everybodies
I'm François, from north of France (about 1h of driving north of Reims, or if you prefer, about between Paris and Brussels). I hope my English will be understandable!

I use a Simba Xpress 5.50m and I have a problem as "Goggles": it bounces!
We bought it in 2014 and it was an used tiller. We changed all discs as soon as we received it. Now discs are about 50% used. It was originals discs, made in Canada (Ingersol).

We have loams and argils. Since 2014, it bounces only in loams, and not everytime! But this year, it is impossible to do a good work because it bounces in every type of soil.
I'm lost because I don't know why it is doing that... I work at 10kph (6.5mph) and when it bounces I have to decelerate at 7 or 8kph (5mph) to stabilise it...
Two days ago I was working in a field and I cannot move forward more than 8kph (5mph)...
Do you have any idea?
Few pics of how I am adjusted:

Bienvenue!

Alter the disc angle is the only way, though there are other people with more experience with Xpress machines than me.

I have ever try everything... more or less angle, more in front, less in rear, the opposite...
I have also try to change the angle to more "nose" or "hound" (I hope this is good words in English)
Nothing can change the problem!

I can pull the Xpress with two tractors: a

Nothing can change the problem!

I can pull the Xpress with two tractors: a Mx230 and a 7210... Two Magnum with the same hitch height. The problem is the same with both tractors.

I know absolutely nothing about these type of cultivator but looking at it seems only natural it would bounce with the axle back there.
What happens if the wheels are just touching the ground
