The trouble is there to much money being made hauling chemicals around. Why can’t farmer buy the active ingredient. Look at the % of the can your pouring into the spray tank. 2% of active ingredient. The rest of the can is snake oil. Wetters. Stickers. And within a hour rain fastness. Would be so nice to put grams regather than ltrs and ltrs in my sprayer. But I know I’m not responsible to handle that.

We once brought some beet herbicide with the right amount of active ingredient but the wrong wetters/stickers and it did virtually nothing! So don’t underestimate the total package.

formulation is a bit more complex than that and then there is licensing and regulation to consider which is no small thing (rightly so given we are producing food)

however actives are easily bought mostly from China nd Eastern Europe where they are made at prices a long way removed from the products we buy them in as farmers. It is certainly not impossible to import and formulate, it just needs investment which I have no doubt whatsoever I could get if left with no other options. FarmDeals has deep pockets, it will not fail here

it would be a load easier to work with existing distribution and manufacturers however to provide a more efficient, convenient and most importantly a more viable supply chain to farm that are fit for a tighter, unsubsidised future, ultimately that’s actually in everyones interest surely ?

Formulation can make or break performance. Just whacking an active in a sprayer will not work. There is so much more to it.

Think of crisps.......what makes the difference between McCoys and bloggo value?

The active ingredient is the same (potato) but what they do to it makes the flavour, texture, shape, colour, etc

Well, like, duh.
You have all been voting for this for decades, both as individual businesses and through tacit support for your representative bodies. You all continue to vote for it on a daily basis.
We can't have diversity in some links of the chain but not in others, it doesn't work like that.

I received the same email and immediately thought the same. Dropped Anglia Grain a few years ago due to Frontier ownership. I’m committed to them via Camgrain and SOYL although SOYL is being dropped and looking at an interesting alternative to Camgrain.
