Hi

YAGRO ' Farm input purchasing made easy '

Has anyone got any experience of this business, does it work today, or is it a concept for the future ?

They were at CropTec yesterday

Thanks .......

No harm in getting prices. Its a good idea if the prices are cheaper than currently otherwise it is pointless. More of a tailored supply chain makes sense and should reduce costs for all . Im going to give it a go. We will see.

It's a concept of the past imo

Just another twist on a buying group and it's really not hard to beat buying group prices imo

I had a chat with them today and they don't work as a buying group. The enquiry gets set round set suppliers in that area of their preferred suppliers, then they all get a chance to bid for the job.

And they do this for free ? I never will understand the willingness of many farmers to pay others to run their business for them ?

Is it so hard to send an email out or call around for prices ? I seem to spend half my life being called by people wanting to give me prices for everything from phones and power to chemicals and fert

Amazingly companies with products to sell are actually quite keen to quote you and take business from their competitors !

The way I understood it is that they get some money from the supplier/manufacturer as an introduction type fee. Don't quote me on this.

Like "free" mobiles phones ??

Manufacturers don't supply anyone direct, they all sell via distrubuter (except Rotam)

And why wouldn't it be worth trying? I can still email suppliers direct, I can still call buying group, I haven't paid anything. I'm always looking for ways to make things easier / more efficient, Yagro could be one of them.

Certainly no harm in getting as many free quotes as you can

I would be disappointed if I couldn't beat a price that had a broker or buying group commission or costs factored into it however

I agree with you Clive but must admit I could get Rotam products cheaper by not buying direct from them last year. That confused me as well.

The more quotes the better. Don't worry- we'll still use TFF for prices as well!
