Have been looking to change our 850 Kramer and the equivalent machine 5085 has a Yanmar engine in it. Always had a Kramer and latterly they have always had deutz engines . Is this a step backwards are they reliable? I'am sure it will be a cost saving for Neuson but will I pay for it in the end?

I've got a deutz in my 80 series kramer and cant fault it. Just over 100hp and noticeably better than the 75hp deutz in our old 580.

Cousin has a 50 series with the yanmar engine and I haven't heard any complaints. I would still go for an 80 series machine myself though.

Check hp rating. There's nowt wrong with yanmar, when it comes to diggers under 8 ton it'll be either yanmar or kubota in 90% of them. In not aware they do anything over about 70hp though but i could be wrong.

manitou are doing a MLT 841 now with a 140hp or 145hp yanmar engine? its to replace the MLT 840 with John Deere engine.

Don't Yanmar make the Volvo branded small excavator engines? They certainly make engines for Deere's compact tractors. They also own Schaeff of Germany, don't they?
I think they build four cylinder diesel engines up around 200hp.

A bit off topic I’m afraid, but I don’t understand Kramer models? What’s the difference between a 5085t and a KL30.5t? They look the same in the pictures

It's possible i think they do a lot if marine engines and they will have some bigger hp outputs. I know for a time their engines over about 45hp didn't meet the emissions over here (takeuchi 8 tonner used isuzu but is back to a yanmar now).

They build engines up to a V12 1800hp for boats. Wonder is it an option in a Kramer?:cat:
Yanmar would be well up there with the rest of the best engine builders.

Yanmar have been putting engines is groundscare John Deere machines for decades,I have always found them reliable but like any engine this is dependent on good servicing and oil changes.
